New members for indie teen comedy 'Geography Club

Cameron Deane Stewart, Justin Deeley, Andrew Caldwell, Allie Gonino, Meaghan Martin, Ally Maki and Nikki Blonsky are starring in indie teen comedy "Geography Club."

Production began this week on "Geography Club," based on Brent Hartinger's young adult novel, on locations in and around Los Angeles.

Michael Huffington and Anthony Bretti are producing as a Huffington Pictures production. Written by Edmund Entin and directed by Gary Entin, the comedy centers on contemporary teens as they navigate the clique-mined landscape of Goodkind High School. The 2003 novel follows a group of high school students who feel like outsiders because of their sexual orientation. The narrator helps form an after-school club for the students so they can gather without suspicion.

Marin Hinkle, Ana Gasteyer and Scott Bakula also star.

Exec producers are Frederick Levy and Bryan Leder. The co-exec producers are Joe Dain and John Schwartz.

Stewart soon will be seen in the film "Pitch Perfect" for Universal. Deeley stars on the CW's "90210." Caldwell is on "How I Met Your Mother." Gonino stars in ABC Family's "The Lying Game." Martin stars in "Camp Rock" and its sequel on Disney Channel. Maki appeared in the ABC Family series "10 Things I Hate About You."

Huffington produced "Grassroots," a film directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal, which was theatrically released this past week by Samuel Goldwyn Films, and Michael Mohan's romantic comedy "Save the Date," which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and has been acquired by IFC Films.
